Sheer Music Presents… SPECTRES

After Sheer supremo Kieran Moore had a chance meeting with the wonderful people at Bristol’s Howling Owl Records in Dalston a few weeks ago, we are very happy to be bringing their flagship act SPECTRES to Devizes on Friday 27th September.

The label is synonymous with avant garde, boundary pushing, noise, and Spectres are the jewel in Bristol’s new sound alongside the likes of The Naturals, Velcro Hooks and Oliver Wilde. Scene points are in abundance too, with their 2 track single released via the medium of Cassette, on cassette store day earlier in September – See? Achingly Cool!

The quartet mount guitars on guitars, forming a wall of noise. Heavy reverberated vocals are low in the mix, making it Sonic Youth inspired, drony indie rock territory – and it’s thoroughly excellent all round.

If guitars are supposed to be dead it’s probably because Spectres have killed them. Not for the fainthearted, but essential all the same.” 9/10 Drowned in Sound

A host of supports come from local legend, Gary Martin (he of Fog Band and Gentlemens Relish fame…) and his grunge band AUDIO PUPPY, proper indie kings SALUTE THE MAGPIE and finally Bath/Westbury based arty noise crew MARABOU STALK finish off the bill in style.

This is a FANTASTIC bill of underground rock music; if you want to be a part of something bigger than the sum of it’s parts, then this is it.
