Sheer Music presents… JONAH MATRANGA

This Friday, 3rd October, Sheer Music host the 2nd show in two days, as part of their 10 Year Anniversary of promoting shows in the South West & Wiltshire.
In typically low key attitude, without any hyper bowl or over the top fan fair, we let the quality of the acts do the talking, and in JONAH MATRANGA we have managed a real coup!

Jonah laid the blue print to the genre known as post-hardcore way back in the early 90’s in his now legendary band FAR. Gaining enough success to take his music around the world, it wasn’t until the 00’s came and a plethora of UK underground bands such as Funeral For A Friend, Biffy Clyro, Million Dead, 100 Reasons and Reuben etc all cited Far’s 1998 album, Water & Solutions, as their influence, that they came to the attention of Sheer head honcho Kieran J Moore. By then it was all over for Far, where Jonah had become his own solo act under the name Onelinedrawing. That band was popular with the new emerging Emo crowd as he continued his own legacy and status. Now 2014 and Jonah still performs in Far, Onelinedrawing and now solo under his own name. What ever he plays, his distinct voice and style can be heard, and delivers right to the heart of modern rock music.
Jonah is also our first American friend we’ve had in Devizes and we are absolutely thrilled he knew enough about us to agree to play right on the spot. Since having extensive dialogue with him too, I’m almost convinced he is the nicest man in rock, barring Chris T-T. Hefty words.
Take this opportunity to listen to the song below, and check Jonah out here;
Support for the night comes from ALL EARS AVOW. This band are now well known in Devizes having played the Devizes Festival showcase earlier this year, as well as numerous pub gigs. The band have delivered where their promised showed after support slots to some big shows like The Computers in Swindon.
We picked them after they released an acoustic session EP, and it was excellent. They are the perfect addition to the bill.
Openers come from locals Mike Barham and Phil Cooper. It was important we had the right fit of support, genuine musicians and good people, to give the right impression of Devizes. Mike and Phil represent two of the nicest people we’ve had through our doors. Both deliver great sets when called upon, and neither over do the local scene, so everything about this gig is plump for success!
