Sheer Music Presents… Tom Cox aka Why My Cat Is Sad

On Saturday 30th May at Devizes Books, we will be proud to announce our first Literature event, featuring a mixed bill of music, comedy and book readings from Twitter hero, Tom Cox.

The former NME and Uncut journalist, and Guardian “Rock” critic, turned best selling author, marks his début appearance in Devizes, by reading from his previous book “The Good, The Bad & The Furry”, and unveiling new material from forthcoming 8th book (his 4th on Cats specifically) “Close Encounters Of The Furry Kind” due for release this Autumn.

Upon hanging up his critical pen, he turned his thoughts to cats.

Yes, cats.

3 dedicated books on the subject and growing, a legion of fans with each subsequent release – via his witty outpouring on Twitter and Facebook, Tom is like a freight train, which we don’t see stopping any time soon.

Complimenting the night will be recent Moonrakers Comedy Club success, Tony Cowards. The comedian comes from Swindon, which means he has a lot of excellent material to draw upon!

Completing the line up with be Portsmouth based singer songwriter, Kyle D Evans. Under the name The Retrospective Soundtrack Players, he writes concept albums based on famous works of literature and film. His previous works have albums based on both The Catcher in The Rye and Cool hand Luke. His latest opus was a excellent marriage of A Christmas Carol and It’s A Wonderful Life.

The informal venue, will host a very relaxed night, where strict running orders and times are not being adhered to – Simply be at the venue a little after 8pm, and enjoy the complimentary wine included in your ticket price!,

Limited to 60, tickets cost £10 in advance from WeGotTickets OR you can pick up a limited number of, bespoke handmade tickets direct from Devizes Books. These have more than a faint whiff of 70/80’s Fanzine about them.
