Getting a circle pit going around one of the roof supporting pillars has been achieved many times through the establishments long and illustrious history, but with bands like HECK and Black Peaks on a bill, you wouldn’t expect those ageing pillars to last long. If ever there was a time to witness the sonic sermons of Essex troubadour/activist/bloke Billy Bragg then tonight is surely it: wounds still raw from the EU referendum; today’s publication of the Chilcot report; a disintegrating, Corbyn-led Labour; the recent spike in street racism – they all stoke the fire in the belly of the 58-year-old folk-punk hero, setting up what is likely to be more of an event than a gig.

Over a decade into their career now; London based Indie quartet Tellison have developed a reputation as one of Britain’s hardest working touring bands. Tonight they were at Bar Bloc in Glasgow to promote their third record: 2015’s Hope Fading Nightly which was widely acclaimed among the UK’s underground music scene.
Those in attendance on Monday night were keen to get down early to secure themselves a decent view of their idols Bowling For Soup; perfect for those supporting, who were guaranteed a decent size crowd. Continue reading
